2-Day PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP

What you will learn:

This is a Two-Part "Online" Workshop and each session is 3-hours.  In Part One, "Tell Me Your Story" explains and explores the essential building blocks of compelling storytelling, including character, plot, premise, and story world.

In Part Two, "The World of the Play,” participants will work with practical tools for developing a "brainstorming" process needed for creating their stage play sets and props. This approach will result in them better understanding the world that their story will play in, thus creating richer, more dynamic narratives. Also, attendees will receive six playwriting templates and information on applicable technical playwriting resources to support their creative process long after the session ends.

Drawing from more than 40 years of experience learning the processes for teaching playwriting and screenwriting, Clyde shares insights gained from mentoring emerging playwrights and leading writing workshops in Virginia Beach, Philadelphia, and Gaithersburg. The workshop offers a contemporary approach to creating new plays in today’s theatrical landscape, with particular attention to the challenges and opportunities facing minority playwrights and women as they develop and produce new work.

Attendees need to come with a short description (paragraph or premise line) describing an idea that they want to turn into a play.
